Ireland Elopement, County Donegal | Eileen + Patrick

This adventurous Ireland cliffside elopement shoot was truly one of my favorite sessions EVER!!! After an afternoon of location scouting (something I do for all of my couples!), I came across the perfect place for Patrick and Eileen’s elopement shoot. And little would anyone know, our location was all of 5 minutes away from Eileen’s grandparent’s Bed and Breakfast, which only made the shoot that much more special for Eileen and Patrick.

County Donegal is a hidden gem, located on Ireland’s west coastline known as the Wild Atlantic Way. It’s a wild, isolated space, and perfect for adventurous souls.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, unique, and remote place to get married, having an elopement in County Donegal couldn’t get any more adventurous.

Eileen and I spent so much of our childhood in County Donegal, and have such fond memories of our summers there. We used to walk to the beach with our granddad every evening after dinner, so it was sentimental for us to photograph a piece of her love story with her new beau here. Patrick and Eileen have been getting to know each other for a while, but became bf/gf official only a week before our shoot.

And all the giddy, lovey, honeymoon feels at the very beginning of a relationship…. oh yeah, these two had them. 😉 

 

Eileen wore a beautiful lace open back dress from Lulus Bridal. It was perfect for a windy cliffside elopement.

 

If you’re planning an outdoor elopement, make sure your dress is comfortable to wear and walk in, and has light fabric that will catch any wild winds. 😉

 

I did Eileen’s hair and she did her own make up, and it turned out beautifully. My Granny put together a colorful wildflower bouquet from her garden, and we stuck a few buds in Eileen’s updo. Our sister Maureen provided the drinks and tunes, and was an awesome assistant and travel companion!

 

Patrick pulled on his best tweed sport coat and trousers and off we went to this quiet, sacred space. The tide was coming in as we made our way over the rocks, and we climbed up the cliffside and ran through the bog. Eileen and Patrick’s fun-loving personalities flow so well together. As soon as one of them was unsure of what to do, the other had them laughing again within seconds. This was by far one of my favorite, favorite shoots of all time! 

 

Also – you better believe “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer was playing in the background as they did the Jack and Rose Titanic Classic pose!

 

While we were getting ready earlier in the day, we had a fake eyelash mishap. By the time we arrived at the oceanside, we had all of 45 minutes of light before the sun went down. But Patrick and Eileen rocked this session so well you would think they were full time models.

Ireland holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to go back! I’ve spent most of my life exploring the island and know of so many beautiful secret spots.
