Sunny Winter Wedding at The Reeds | E + B

Sometimes the best things in life come when you least expect it; an unplanned meeting, the perfect timing of your graduation, a packet of chips… Yes, you read that right! Elise’s favorite snack became even better when Bob proposed with the ring box hidden in a packet of chips!

This sweet couple wanted their wedding to feel like a weekend retreat for their guests, so combining their love for the beach, Elise and Bobby decided to have a Sunny Winter Wedding at The Reeds. The weather was unseasonably warm for January in New Jersey but there were no complaints from the newlyweds and their guests as they enjoyed the bright blue skies.

To keep things personal and private Elise and Bobby opted for a first look, just the two of them (and a few winter beach-goers). A first look is a great option for any couple looking for some time in their wedding day to spend, just the two of them. A private first look is especially intimate and gives couples the freedom to fully express their emotions. These moments are always some of my favorite to capture and I honestly feel all the adrenaline right along with you! Elise and Bobby truly allowed themselves to feel and express their love for one another during their first look- just look at them!

Often in my consultations with couples, they will ask whether they need a first look. I always tell them it’s completely up to them and their personalities but it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy each other before the day gets away from them with the festivities, seeing friends and family, the reception etc. And this is exactly what Elise and Bobby did. They said this was their favorite moment of the day (other than actually saying their vows!) and highly suggested other couples do the same. With all the fun and excitement, your wedding day may feel like it flies by but by having that first look you can slow down time just for a moment and remember why you are both here.

After portraits of Elise and Bobby on the beach, we went back to The Reeds for their wedding party and family portraits. Their crew was such a fun group and their phenomenal energy showed in their wedding party photos! How gorgeous are they?!

The Reeds has a gorgeous indoor and outdoor option for the ceremony location. As it was January, we were indoors. The ceremony line up is beautiful and then during cocktail hour, the Reeds team transforms the space into the reception space of couples dreams! The subtle, elegant detail of a candle lined aisle is something I’ll never get over.

Elise + Bobby celebrated their day with a reception surrounded by their family and friends, complete with lots of laughter and their favorite signature cocktail (winter mules!) on hand! Their Sunny Winter Wedding at The Reeds was nothing short of perfect. Looking for more ideas on how to keep a small wedding meaningful?
